Card hacks gone wrong
I'm making a mountain out of a molehill but I really do get pissed off by card exclusions! And hence the overexxaggerated post title.
I've been using credit cards, Youtrip and grabpay card for quite awhile, mostly credit cards. But my grab platinum account is going to be downgraded at the end of this year if I don't chalk up enough points, so I was finding ways to hit the point requirements. Saw on hardware zone that I could use my grabpay card on public transport, so that was what I did. But lo and behold, bus and mrt are excluded from earning points! So sad... But at least I know now, so I would like to share the other exclusions here as well:
1. Paypal (yep I wanted to link my grabpay card to PayPal too; since there r merchants that accept PayPal; but apparently it's excluded...There is a difference between topping up and paying to merchant via PayPal, but on Grab's website it doesn't differentiate, so I didn't want to take the risk.)
2. Ez-link transactions (including public transport)
3. Financial Services, brokers
4. Wire transfers, remittance, ATM withdrawals, account top-ups, quasi cash
5. Insurance (except on Grab)
There is, however, one great thing at least, which is that I should be able to earn points on utility bills and phone bills😄 Shall update again regarding this!
TTFN.
