OBS again
After reading my frens' blogs, I've realized how much I lack in descriptions. That was kinda random cos I just wanted an introduction to (aberden) what I'm writing later.
I just realised I survived OBS on 3 long-sleeved shirts, one shirt which I wore there and then lost there after our kayaking session, 2 track pants including the one I wore there, plus all my sun protection including my hat and body sunblock, both which were lost there as well, and also my sunglasses which were broken [one of the arms broke of] while carrying the kayaks and keeping them back on the racks. How dumb. Who carries their sunglasses around while carrying kayaks around? I couldn't even find the broken arm so that I can at least buy a little screw to screw it back to the main body. Furthermore I liked that sunglasses... I borrowed prickly heat from Y so it wasn't so bad on the days we couldn't shower. I think our group was the most helpful since we helped the other group carry ALL their kayaks down from the kayak racks. They were really heavy. At least 4-6 people were required to carry one. Besides that there were prickly leaves sticking out from the fence behind the kayak racks. I was trying to carry the kayak from the top rack with a few other people when I got pricked by the leaves and then the kayak was pulled by the people at the opposite side so I couldn't hold on to it properly, partially cos of the pain caused by the leaves but mostly caused by the awkward position I was in due to the lack of space. What an excuse! I guess I'm the only one to have encountered such problems. Anyway, the kayak that wasn't held properly by me smacked down to the floor and I think I remember myself screaming. There were several red spots in my shoulder caused by the prickly leaves but they didn't hurt. But the kayaking part was quite fun just that we zig zag-ed everywhere we went and I couldn't capsize properly. The saving part was cool. We were to empty the kayaks of water at sea and it was a pretty cool process. Another (afloat) kayak would be used as the pivot and the capsized one would be the see-saw. By making the kayak into the see-saw, water can be discarded from the kayak then the 2 people in the water plus the 1 person in the front seat of the kayak, which is still afloat, just need to flip the kayak. It's hard getting into a kayak in deep water so we put the ore horizontally across the two kayaks, put both legs onto the ore and push ourselves up and into the hole of the kayak. The sad thing about the kayaking session is that I didn't see any jellyfish:( I wanna see it float around and flap it's cap. Such cool but electrifying creatures!
