I'm Back
from OBS. It was an itchy experience. I'm itching like nutz now. I was itching for Adam as well. Something that I'm irritated about is that during OBS no one bothered to lay my bed sheet...
Day 1 was really introductory. Waiting is a very tiring process. Sadly, we waited quite long for the boat to bring us to ubin. The atmosphere wasn't right. But the games May sZe played with us were fun. We talked a bit about what we expected and afraid of and I said I was a little afraid of the height elements and I expected it to be exciting. A few others also said they were afraid of the height elements. Some are afraid of dogs and yes we saw huge dogs. Some of us saw the dog grab the bags of don't-know-what's-inside and bring it away to its lair. It looked nerdy. I think that was on day 4. We unloaded our stuff, sorted food, ate lunch, brought out the camping stuff from our stall, checked and folded the tents, checked and filled expedition bags with clothes and food and finally, we left for our fun activities. First was trust fall. From a platform we fall backwards onto a blue sheet pulled tightly by our watch. To tell you the truth I was scared but when I was on the platform I just stopped thinking completely so I felt numb. The landing was great. Later was the learning of belaying. Cool. We cooked dinner after all these. Rice, peanuts, corn and curry chicken. Yum. I think the first day was the best. We pitched our tents at the place where we did the belaying.
Day 2 was better than Day 1. We were more used to the environment. The height element was scary. The rope looked taut but when Y and I stepped on the tight rope it wobbled like nuts. *Screams and laughs*. HY belayed me. My goal was 2/3. We were almost there but I was leaning forward too much and we toppled and fell and hung and got belayed. No one broke our record of a little more than half. After this we ate lunch and continued packing our expedition bags and went kayaking. I have problems capsizing. I keep losing my oar. It was really hot and we had to help another group take their kayaks, which were heavy. After kayaking we trekked to Mar Chor. We were actually behind time so we didn't trek to kekek. Cooked dinner at Mar Chor and pitched our tents there. What we cooked were Maggi Mee and ikan bilis? and lor kan choy? That's vegetables with tao pok thingies. Not that nice cos I can taste the unhealthiness.
Day 3 marked the start of our expedition. In the morning we ate breakfast. I ate a huge lot of prunes and made some coffee. What can you expect from 3 in 1s? We were supposed to trek from the camp site to Chek Jawa and back to camp 2. We didn't even reach Chek Jawa. Just the bemuda triangle. I was the sweeper and I had a map with me as well so I knew where we were. Unfortunately, numerous long breaks drained us of our momentum.
[I wasn't connected to the internet so i lost everything from here onwards and I'm not gonna rewrite]
Day 4 i was the navigator for kayaking.
Day 5 pack up, lost compass, whistle, bottles and camp bag. Then home sweet home.
